Split audio
Split a recording into parts of equal length or at the times you choose.
Drop an audio file
or drop it here, or paste. Up to 500 MB per file.
Runs in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.
Formats: the format list shows only what this browser can encode. MP3 and FLAC use an encoder that downloads the first time you choose them. M4A (AAC) is not available in every Firefox version.
Memory: audio is decoded in full, about 23 MB per minute of 48 kHz stereo, so long recordings can be slow on phones. Files that would need more than about 1 GB once decoded (about 45 minutes of 48 kHz stereo, or 90 of mono) are refused before decoding.
How to use Split audio
Choose an audio file or drop it on the page.
Pick how to split: Equal parts, Every N seconds, or Around the selection.
Enter the number of parts or the length, or select a part on the waveform.
Select Apply, then download the parts one by one or all as a ZIP.
Questions
No. Everything runs in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
Up to 100.
Each part is named after your file with a part number, such as song-part-1, in the format you chose.
It cuts at the start and end of the part you select, so you get the audio before it, the selection itself and the audio after it.
